Quattro tori di razza erano stati fatti venire per l’occasione dalla Spagna, giacché i tori spagnoli sono più focosi di quelli messicani. Forse questa mancanza di “fuoco”, come diceva Owen, negli animali indigeni è dovuto all’altitudine, o magari allo spirito del continente occidentale.

It was the Sunday after Easter, and the last bull-fight of the season in Mexico City. Four special bulls are more fiery than Mexican. Perhaps it is the altitude, perhaps just the spirit of the western Continent which is to blame for the lack of “pep”, as Owen put it, in the native animal.
